How a House Becomes a Home

The Owens family has moved in and are quickly getting settled in. When they arrived at their new home, it was as if they had lived their there entire lives, thanks to the many volunteers who mobilized last weekend to move the furniture and possessions into the home one day early. They have since then been hanging pictures and making the space their own. The deck is on the back and looks beautiful and the addition is close to being finished. There are many little things both inside and outside to be completed, but it looks absolutely beautiful. This week or next Madi will be getting a new swingset thanks to another community member's generosity and love.

We also want to thank everyone who either attended or donated towards the Spaghetti Dinner. It was a huge success and we sold 100 tickets and had 50 gift baskets to raffle of for the Chinese Auction. Everyone had a blast and were able to raise much needed funds to cover the outstanding costs of the house. Between the funds raised the night of the dinner and donations recieved on line to date. We are able to give Erin's Dream a check for $2400.00.

We will keep you updated on upcoming needs for the house. We are waiting to hear where we are in meeting all the expenses. Keep checking the link for all our supporters as we update and add names. Thank you everyone for all your help in making this house a home for it is through all the love that this has happened.

Home

The house is beautiful. There was an unbelievable team of workers, who created a home on Friday night. It was thought that Karen and Adam would be returning home on Friday evening and would have no place to come home to. With the help of lots of friends and family, they moved the entire apartment into the house and set things up enough to feel like a home. The landscaping is done, siding is done and it absolutely beautiful.

When they did finally come home last night after saying goodbye to Gavi, they walked into what was truely a home.

A big thank you to all those who helped make this happen.

The Spaghetti Dinner is still scheduled and we look forward to talking with all of you.

This has been a bittersweet journey, but with the love of God and all of you, it has been a smooth journey.

Thank you again for all those that have supported Karen, Adam, Madi, Gavi, and the rest of us.

We will try and post some finished pictures of the house in the next couple of days.

The Count Down Has Begun (3 Days left)

Things are coming together beautifully. The driveway is done for the season. It is graded and packed and looks unbelievably different. The front walk was having its final coating of sand placed tonight. The siding is going up and look wonderful. The flooring is done in the living room and Madison's room. The cabinet doors are on in the kitchen. The slider is going that separated the kitchen from the new addition. The addition has drywall up. Things will continue to be happening over the next few days inside the house in prep for the familes big move on Saturday.

We are looking for helpers to come in on Thursday evening to do a final cleaning top to bottom of the whole house. We may need some touch up painters as well as there are small things that were missed over the weekend, such as a small wall in Gavin's room under the counter.

Thank you everyone for all your help and support. Don't forget to get your Spaghetti Dinner tickets for 11/13/09 they are still available, just EMail LCisick@dejazzd.com. We really want to sell all 100 tickets.
This Sunday is Gavin's Galley at Morning Star. They are looking for helpers to help serve, clean and cook. Tickets are available for this as well. You can purchase them at www.erinsdream.org. or you can buy them at the door. Breakfast starts at 7:30 and seating is every hour after that through lunch.

We have lots of volunteers and supporters to thank. So keep your eyes posted for this to come.

Ramp To Front Door

Saturday ends and we did not finish painting

Today we are all finally done what we can get done. The contractors did an amazing job with working on the ramp to the front of the house. About 20 guys all working hard outside. Inside we had a much smaller crew, but still managed to get a good deal done. All the ceilings are painted. Madison's two walls are done, trim work all has one coat. We still have all the walls to paint and another coat of trim to do. Nothing dried as fast as it should of because of the humidity.

If you can come out tomorrow, we need you. We will be there around 12:00pm. If we can get 9-10 people we can finish everything. Either Email me at lcisick@dejazzd.com or call us at 610-207-6233.

We thank all the helpers that came out today. We could never of got done what we did without you.
